Minecraft Experience.

This week, Elijah and I took advantage of his school having an inset day and being closed on a Friday. We headed to the Minecraft Experience in Canada Water.
Elijah is Minecraft-obsessed. I didn’t tell him what we had planned, and his excitement when we got there was crazy. The experience is an immersive, game-like environment with pixel style decor and hands-on activities. At one point, he even said, “This is the best day of my life!” (To be fair, any time he’s having a good day it gets that label, but you get the sentiment!) Honestly, hearing that made the whole trip worth it.
The Honest Bit…
Although Lige labelled it as the best day of his life, for me? I had a slightly different take.
While it was lovely watching Elijah enjoy himself, I couldn’t help but feel that the experience is best suited to children aged 9 and under. I’ve seen it marketed as “fun for all ages,” but as an adult, I found parts of it a bit underwhelming. Some activities felt quite repetitive, and overall, the experience was shorter than expected.
When we came out of the tube station, we met a young man—about 19—who had just finished the experience. He gave us directions and said Elijah would enjoy it, but admitted he thought it was just “okay.” As I walked around, I couldn’t help but put myself in his shoes—and honestly, if I’d been 19, I wouldn’t have been that impressed either.
It took us around 45 minutes to complete, and I felt the storyline could have been developed more. For the ticket price, I would have expected at least an hour and a half of content.

Tickets and the Eye-Watering Gift Shop
Tickets were £24 each for our time slot, though prices do vary. I didn’t mind the cost too much for a special treat, but where my jaw really dropped was at the gift shop.
A plastic diamond sword (which Elijah assures me is very cool and important to the game) was priced at £60. I pulled out my phone, searched Amazon, and found the exact same one for £15. I ordered it on the spot, and Elijah was happy to wait a couple of days. I was happy to save £45!
Final Thoughts
Elijah gave it a solid 10/10 with zero complaints—and that’s what really matters to me. From my perspective as a parent, it could have been longer and a bit more thoughtfully designed in places. But if you’ve got a young Minecraft fan at home, they’ll probably be just as enchanted as Elijah was.
Would I go again? Probably not.But am I glad we went? Absolutely, it was a memory-making day for my son—and I’ll take that win any day.
